Occupational Therapy Assistant

The MHPC OTA Program is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE) of the American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA). Individuals will be a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) upon successful completion of coursework and passing of the national certification exam.

OTA Graduation Requirements

Occupational Therapy Assistant students must attain a cumulative grade point average of C (70%) in each course to graduate. If a course grade is below 70%, or clinical skills are not all successfully demonstrated, the OTA student may be placed on Academic Probation.

In addition, Missouri requires licensure to practice; however, acquisition of a state license is based on the results of the NBCOT Certification Examination.

Medical Lab Technician

The MHPC MLT Program is accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science (NAACLS). Individuals will become a Medical Laboratory Technician upon successful completion of coursework, clinical rotations and passing the national certification examination through the American Society of Clinical Pathologists Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC). The curriculum includes on-campus or virtual classroom instruction, on-campus laboratory instruction and an off-campus clinical rotation component encompassing the areas of Hematology and Coagulation, Clinical Microbiology, Parasitology, Mycology and Virology, Immunohematology, Clinical Chemistry and Urinalysis, Immunology and Phlebotomy.
